Abstract

An efficient and simple one-pot multicomponent procedure for the synthesis of imidazoles from the condensation of benzyl, ammonium acetate and aromatic aldehydes in the presence of a catalytic amount of alumina-supported phosphorus pentoxide /Al2O3 (P2O5/Al2O3) under solvent- free conditions is reported.
